Marissa Shearer Studio specializes in natural clay plaster, lime plaster, tadelakt, and limewash finishes for homes, restaurants, and commercial spaces across Western Washington. Each project begins with a conversation about the space — its light, its purpose, the feeling the client wants to walk into every day.
Natural plaster is not paint. It is a mineral finish applied by hand in multiple coats, building depth and texture that shifts with the light throughout the day. The result is a surface that feels alive — warm to the touch, soft to the eye, and entirely unique to each wall.

Clay and lime plasters are completely non-toxic and free of VOCs. They regulate humidity naturally, resist mold and mildew, and improve indoor air quality — making them an ideal choice for bedrooms, nurseries, and spaces where you spend the most time.

Lime plaster cures to a mineral-hard surface that grows richer over time. As light shifts across its textured surface, subtle variations emerge that deepen with the years. Tadelakt, a traditional Moroccan technique, develops a soft patina while remaining waterproof — a living finish for showers, bathrooms, and wet areas without the need for tile or sealant.

Natural plasters are made from earth, limestone, and mineral pigments — materials that have been used for thousands of years across every continent. They require no synthetic chemicals to manufacture and are fully biodegradable at the end of their life.
